Ofsted puts a spring in the step at primary school

Staff and pupils at Sir Robert Hitcham’s CEVA primary school in Framlingham are celebrating an Ofsted report declaring the school “good” in all areas.
The inspection took place over two days at the end of last term, with staff and parents kept waiting over the Easter holidays for the report to be published. “We are delighted with the inspector’s findings,” says headteacher Mrs Helen Picton. “This was a fair and very thorough inspection, and in the new Ofsted framework, ‘good’ really does mean ‘good’! Our staff work tirelessly to provide an excellent education for young children, in an environment that is aspirational yet caring and respectful. Full credit goes to them and the children for showing the inspectors how wonderful our school really is.”
The new Ofsted inspection looks at four areas of a school’s performance: Achievement of Pupils; Quality of Teaching; Behaviour and Safety of Pupils; and Leadership and Management. In all four areas Sir Robert Hitcham’s was judged to be good, with some teaching judged outstanding. The full report can be found on the website for the school, which serves Framlingham and surrounding villages, has some spaces available, and is always happy to show families around.
