OFSTED REPORT

It is with great pleasure that the Governors and I share with you the report on our recent Ofsted inspection which took place on the 19th and 20th March 2013.

We are thrilled to receive confirmation that Framlingham Sir Robert Hitcham’s has been graded a ‘Good’ school under the Framework for School Inspection (September 2012 - Section 5 of the Education Act 2005).

This means that the school has moved forward significantly since the last inspection in 2008 due to the grade boundaries being raised by Ofsted over that time period.

We are particularly pleased with comments from the inspectors indicating the enjoyment and achievement of all the children, a selection of which include:
“attendance is well-above average and reflects the pupil’s enjoyment of school”
“they want to do well and teachers expect them to work hard”
“pupils feel valued as individuals”
“pupils make good progress…”
Outstanding aspects of teaching are seen in a number of classes”

We are also encouraged that Ofsted agreed with our identification of areas of strength and areas for improvement.

We are hugely grateful to the families who gave the Ofsted team so many positive comments about our school and to all who continually support us in so many ways.

We would also like to thank all our staff and Governors who work tirelessly to give the very best educational opportunities to our children.

We know that Sir Robert Hitcham’s is a wonderful school and now the Inspectorate, who carried out a very fair and thorough inspection, have validated this and will publish their findings to the wider community on 23 April.

Those parents who receive their letters by email will find the report attached to the email, for those who receive a hard copy, you are welcome to ask for a photocopy from the school office, or you can access the report on-line from Tuesday 23 April on the Ofsted website at:

Yours sincerely
