Whole School Letter (23)

PARKING AND DROP-OFFS IN NEW ROAD
Following a meeting with Suffolk Constabulary last week, regarding their concerns with continuing traffic, parking and safety issues in the New Road area, we are writing to parents to strongly urge you to allow enough time to find suitable parking in Framlingham and not to park on yellow lines, on junctions or across private driveways or businesses.
Please avoid Coucy Close, as according to the police, resident complaints have now reached an intolerable level. The local residents and police are tolerant of short drop-offs/collections but not for longer term parking as some have been doing.
We would like to thank all those families who take time to find alternative parking, for the safety of all our children and Suffolk Constabulary fully appreciate the need to drop-off children, however, the lack of safety and consideration by some parents means it has come to a point where the Police have asked us to warn you that they will shortly have to start issuing tickets (£30 fine) for parking offences.
We have written to you on a number of occasions in the past about this problem, however, now with the increased pressure from local residents and the police we must urge those of you who do park/drop off in these areas to be more considerate road users for the safety of all our children.
For those of you who live in Framlingham we urge you to walk to school, which will help alleviate the problem for those who live outside the town. We appreciate there is more pressure on the back entrance now that the crossing patrol is no longer available at the front entrance, and we thank you for your co-operation.

‘SAVE OUR SCHOOL CROSSING PATROL’ PETITION
Many of you have already written to SCC protesting against the potential cutting of this service, it is important that we all put pressure on the County not to cut this service, please do send in a letter of objection if you have not already done so, to Lucy Robinson, ESE, Endeavor House, Lower Corridor, 8 Russell Road, Ipswich IP1 2BX. In addition, there is also an online petition on the SCC website; the decision is being made on 17 February by SCC, so please add your name to the petition before then, even if you have also sent a letter:

HANDING IN PAYMENTS/REPLY SLIPS TO SCHOOL
Please can children hand money/slips into the class teacher rather than the office. All cash should be in a sealed envelope, with your child’s name and class, plus details of what it is for (ie ‘Lunch - Friday, £2.10’). We have pre-printed envelopes available in the office for £1 (pack of 20) which are convenient for dinner money, trip payments etc. Thank you

‘JUST DIFFERENT’ WORKSHOPS
On the 9-11 February the children will be involved in class workshops led by young disabled adults. The aim is to educate the children about accepting disability and difference within their world. They tell real life stories, include thought provoking activities, quizzes and Q&A sessions, giving the children an opportunity to ask about disability and life experiences in a fun and inspiring way.
