Class EM Share Afternoon

Class EM took 'Thanksgiving' as the theme for their SHARE session with parents. See below for an explanation of Thanksgiving. The children & parents took part in a wide range of activities: Autumn Leaf Turkey, Salad cornucopia, Totem poles, Thankful Turkeys, Turkey Maze, Dream catchers, Thanksgiving paper hands, Chocolate Pilgrim Hats.

Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. While it may have been religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday. It is sometimes casually referred to as Turkey Day.

In Canada, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the second Monday in October.

In the United States, it falls on the fourth Thursday of November.

Picasso Artwork in Key Stage 2

Classes DB and NS/JB have been looking at the work of Pablo Picasso and creating their own Picasso style self portraits. This invloved the manipulation of digital photographs and their own arragement of colour and greyscale sections.
There were some stunningly creative pictures made by the children. You can see many more on the short movie below.

Music Workshops with Bassistry Arts

All of our Key Stage 2 children (7-11 year olds) enjoyed a series of workshops yesterday with Marcel & Josh from Bassistry Arts in London. They are both professional musicians with huge experience of working with children across the World. The children took part in percussion, singing and dancing activities.
One of the year 5 children said ''I wish we could rewind that day. It was so good that I would like to do it all again''.
Bassistry have a website if you would like to find out more about them.
The costs of the day were paid for by our Friends Association - money well spent.
